Approaching Knee Pain With First Hand Knowledge
As a young athlete of only 16 years of age, Rochelle first experienced the physical and emotional effects of knee pain. One immediate deceleration step snapped the anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee joint which would change life as it had been experienced forever.
Surgery by the team physician was not offered as an option. As the MRI was dissected and the physician pointed to where the ACL used to be, her only question was “How do we fix it?”. The answer came as a surprise. The physician’s suggestion was to hit the gym and get stronger then be back in three weeks.
That was the beginning of her journey to understanding the body .
Back then, the exercise prescriptions were rudimentary. Today we have so much more knowledge of the mechanics of the body. With the advancement of the understanding of inherent movement principles and the approach of stimulating and treating the whole body, we are better able to get at the causes of pain, reduce or eliminate them and prevent pain from worsening or occurring again.
Rochelle’s intuition and knowledge of the body has helped many individuals with knee pain rediscover life again. From the common ACL injury to the mysterious, undiagnosable knee pain, each can be successfully managed by reintroducing foundational movement patterns and increasing strength, mobility, flexibility, stability and awareness.
Rochelle’s message:
Possibility is waiting. Fundamentals plus awareness equal progress…for anyone.
